Bumper time!
I walked out of work with 10 tons of cardboard today.. time to sit down and start mocking up bumpers and armor. Hopefully next weekend i can go buy some steel and start cutting.
Only thing im not 100% on right now is whether or not i want to incorporate a winch into my bumper. I really have no plans of buying one anytime soon, but knowing my luck ill find a sweet deal on one right after i finish building the bumper without a winch plate..

Harley, just make sure it bolts on and if you go with a winch, unbolt it and sell it and make a new one to fit the winch. Problem solved.
Re: Bumper time!
im sure you could probably find some good ideas online to help start ya out. im sure you probably want something unique and not mass produced. Good Luck

welders fault if the spiders blew up. but if the axle shaft broke then thats just a weak axle and shouldnt have been welded

If you let Dirty weld it you'll have a locker. A Lincoln locker.

LOL
I wanted weld the rear but my yj is both a DD and for recreational offroad use plus I still have the weak D35 rear. From what I understand sometimes its tricky going at highway speeds with a welded rear... but thats just what I've read in other forums.

Re: Bumper time!
I have the factory air-locker in mine and they highly recommend NOT to do highway speeds with the locker engaged. I heard the same things about highway driving, but drag racers do it all the time. We used to do it in the VW's all the time and never had any issues.

I think you should build it to fit a winch... this way you can continue to build on it and wont have to creat a another bumper which will cost more. You could always get a Harbor Freight winch w/ their 20% coupon that they sometimes have for 220.00 bucks. Their winches are made in the same china factory as the Miles Markers. Theyare just slower but on the plus side draw less amps. Check this out: http://www.moabjeeper.com/articles/general/listing.cfm?articleID=353

Re: Bumper time!
And if you make it for the winch, but don't put it on right away, you have a nice flat spot to set your drink on between obstacles while we're BS'ing. Hey, it's an idea!
