Introducing the Titan Swap Empty Introducing the Titan Swap

Post by piratex 12/5/2011, 10:54 pm

Ok y'all so I'm going to start getting the parts for my titan swap.
First what this will do is give me anywhere from 2.5 to 3in wider stance. Also it will allow for much greater amount of lift, articulation. I can achieve up to 7 inches of lift with this without a body lift. I'm going to shoot for about 6in of lift.

What I need:
Titan upper and lower control arms stock or aftermarket
Also I need either titan tie rods or extensions
New coilovers perferably radflo extended coilovers set to 2.5in of lift and 3.5in spacer(1in spacer still needed). This will probably be the most expensive part
Convert my rear leafs to soa. About 5inches
Rear 2.5in shackles(already installed)
Rear shocks needed. Likely to go with blistien or radflo

So total I'm looking at 6in the frnt and 7.5 in the rear. Also ill want big 35's to go along with all this

Sounds cool. Are you going to use spacer to match the stance in the rear with the front? Or does it use a Titan Rear Axle too?

Very nice that the stuff just bolts in. So much simpler to plug-n-play!

Well since I don't have a front transfer case, no worries there. Yes I would have to do wheel spacers in the rear. And I'm actually trying to find a rear axle out of a off road edition or pro4x edition to have the e locker

But those who do have 4wd do have to either get extended fron drive shaftsfor the r180 or get a titan front axle

Oh you jeep guys. The reason I got a xterra over a jeep is cuz I've had 2 bad expierences in wranglers. One was it rolled over going across train tracks likely due to swerving to miss a drunk driver and thesecond time we rolled the stock roll bars crushed in around me. So I think ill stick with my nissan. Yes I do understand lifting an xterra is very expensive but I do love the lookd of a big xterra

I can build a roll cage. I don't think xterra is a rollproof vehicle . You can keep the xterra as a nice DD, and make a cheap 4x4 as your rig...

its cool different strokes for different folks check out iguanas xterra on youtube but watch very carefully cuz it rolls over in almost every wheeling outing !! thats why its exocaged . it reminds me of a landrover big box on the back , going fullwidth makes it more stable but that cj is a great deal!!!!!!!!

That is a great deal but I'm gunna stick with building up my xterra. To me it'd be more worth it to build my xterra into something amazing with all the blood and hard work

Did I misread the thread, youre getting a locker for the rear, but no real discussion of the front 4wd? You are going to switch to 4WD?

The titan swap can be done on 4wd or 2wd x's. I'm going to start with 2wd and then once a full write up of how to get a titan front axle to work comes out ill work towards that. So this is just a step on my way to a 4wd

I know this may sound silly but reading this thread and the other thread talking about your xtera and doing a 4wd conversion... i know its way cool and awesome to build something one-off and hardcore bad a$$ how ever, since the big billy bad a$$ xtera is a few years down the road and your dead set on having that XTERA and not a jeep or something else. Wouldnt it be alot cheaper/smarter/faster to just trade your 2WD xtera for a 4WD xtera? then you would have and ride twice as capable as your current ride. you would already have the transfercase the drive shafts and IFS to start with untill you do a straight axle.... I dont know it was just a thought, not trying to be an A hole or anything just throwing an idea out there that hasnt be tossed out on here yet.
