The Jeep Wave
WARNING! Owning, registering, insuring, or driving a Jeep implies knowledge of and intent to abide by the following rules, regulations, and guidelines. Failure to obey the letter or spirit of the rules may result in your being ignored by other Jeep owners as you sit along the side of the road next to your stalled vehicle in a blizzard surrounded by Saturns, Yugos, and Hyundais.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Definition:
"The Jeep Wave: An honor bestowed upon those
drivers with the superior intelligence, taste, class,
and discomfort tolerance to own the ultimate
vehicle - the Jeep. Generally consists of vigorous
side-to-side motion of one or both hands, but may
be modified to suit circumstances and locally
accepted etiquette."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Jeep Waving Hierarchy (JWH):
•Category A: Pre-CJ (Willys/Kaiser/Army MJ/etc)
•Category B: Pre-AMC CJ
•Category C: CJ
•Category D: Commando
•Category E: YJ
•Category F: TJ
•Category G: Cherokee, Wagoneer
•Category H: All other Jeeps
•Category I: All other 4WD vehicles
•Category J: All other vehicles
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Rules:
1. Members of any category of the JWH must
initiate wave to drivers of all equal or higher
categories, and continue the wave until:
a. The wave is returned
b. The wave is blatantly disregarded
c. The higher category vehicle has
passed by and is out of sight
2. Members of any category of the JWH are required
to return the wave to drivers of vehicles of equal
categories.
3. Members of any category of the JWH
are encouraged, but not required, to
return the wave to drivers of vehicles
from lower categories.
4. When unsure of status or wave requirements
of a particular encounter, immediately initiate
wave.

Re: The Jeep Wave
Most important wave is to every lady I see, hoping she's in Category D. Actually, I'm not joking about that.

I normally always get waves from older jeeps (CJs and YJs, and most all TJs) but the new JKs rarely wave back!

JK, that's the 4door ones right? Those people don't have a clue generally. A few do, understanding they have a jeep, but a lot are just soccer mom's and mall crawlers.
Re: The Jeep Wave
Do XJs wave at Wranglers? I can only recall once.

Re: The Jeep Wave
We should make a device that waves a hand at incoming jeeps. Or maybe just program it to wave at what ever you choose... Like chicks!

Re: The Jeep Wave
Ay night I flash my flood lights. I wave at any Jeep, its up to them to wave back. Most wranglers with ladies driving them never wave. I guess some random Guy waving at them freaks 'em out. Everyone CJ, yj, tj, jk, xj, zj, KJ, lj, all wave at the WJ
Re: The Jeep Wave
Jeep not only better than walking but has its own sub-culture. The people not waving back they dont understand the sub-culture part.
