axle gear change

ive done and i do alot of mechanics ive done engine,transmission,axle.... etc but i have never changed ring and pinion gears so my question for you all is has anyone done them and what your pointers are can i get away with changing them without a backlash gauge? if thats even what its are called...

well i havent got the gears yet but i can get them pretty cheap but for some reason (probably because im broke as a joke all the time) but i dont like to pay people to do work i know i can do

you need a dial gauge at a minimum to set up gears correctly,

Some blue dykem is handy also so you can see how the teeth are meshing
