With the damage done, I'll be putting a V6 from a 94SR Montero to replace my 2.6 I4. I'll put it on here to show the things nescessary to do a swap like this. Motor mounts to weld in, fuel system to deal with, computerized electronics. Not hard, but involved.

Yep, it will be a considerable jump. New, mine had a whopping 114 hp. This 3.5 had 205 out the factory. Will be a nice step up.

The engine is in a Montero SR in my yard. Was hoping to wait until I had my 87 Shogun put together. Well, I guess it will still wait, the Shogun is closer to being done.

by mashing the gas that montero just might jump off the ground. You'll skip across the mud holes! Call me if you need anything.

Here is the engine going into it. Well, time to do the engine swap 94SR35002 Well, time to do the engine swap 94SR35001 Looks crowded, but the people who've done it say it actually fits in there quite well. This engine is from a different body style of Montero, but they are close enough that it works out well. The engine doesn't scare me, it's fitting all the stuff attached to it. Well, time to do the engine swap 94SR35004 Well, time to do the engine swap 94SR35003 The sides are where it gets crowded. The air cleaner box and it's stuff, Power steering resevoir, all the stuff that has been upgraded is where things will get tight. Plus keeping the AC working, since the AC works in both of them. It is Florida after all.

The transmissions are the same betweenthe V6 and the I4. Just change the bellhousing. Like I said, putting the engine itself in doesnt scare me.

i see, all the electrical would keep me scratching my head too. would everything like the wiring, harnesses, engine mounts and such from the donor mount right up to yours? or will there be a bit of fabricating involved? thats nice that the trans can remain.

Old electrical out, new electrical in. Engine mounts from I4 will be cut out, and mounts from donor V6 welded in. Then all the accessories are a lot more HD, will want to adapt them into the MudRaider also. One piece at a time and it will come together. Thinking about it as a whole is a bit daunting, so I try not to think of it that way.
