What is axle wrap?

How do you stop this, hear it a lot in coil vs leaf discussions, but no one ever says what it is.

axle wrap is what it sounds like.
under hard traction/torque, the leaf springs will curve into a sort of "S" shape and then rebound back causing a sort of "bounce" this can be VERY violent and is normally responsible for broken axles, ujoints, driveshafts, ect.
a traction bar can prevent this because i stops the springs from twisting like that.

Are you talking traction bar like on a street Car? Bolts under the leaf spring on one end and has a snubber on the other? That seems crazy, something hanging under right there. Got any pics? Dirty said something about putting some on one of his, Maybe he can post a pic.

There are diff ways to do the traction bars to stop it. Below is bad for rocks on top can be done too but has to be in the right place. 4 link is best so no leafs. You dont get it with coil springs b/c your upper and lower arms are holding the axle in place.

What about the front if it is leaf spring. Will it do it to them also?

the front is not really prone to have that problem
