SS 3/8th boomerang shackles?
I am looking for some new shackles w/ bushings and hardware for my YJ.. Has anyone ever had SS 3/8th boomerang shackles or just SS shackles? Should I just get some SS or steel ones as they will be stronger? I tend to buy and go for the Stainless Steel over steel as rust is my Jeeps enemy. But steel shackles might be stronger than SS?
Here they are front and back w/ bushings and hardware for 134.** - not bad!
These are 304 SS (304 contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel) and they come with the graphite bushings and grade 8 hardware.

I'm working on getting this off-road suspension stuff figured out, so I'm very interested to see the responses posted. Why are they shaped that way? What advantages does that shape provide. i will say get the graphite bushings. We used the heck out of them in the race cars and dune buggies.

I had a pair on the front of the CJ and they only lasted a couple of trips before they were bent. I say spend the money and have a pair built.

What is the difference between buying these and having some built? Are you saying to use thicker material, is that why you say to have them built? What do you do for bushings when you build them? I'm thinking you get DOM and then get bushings which fit the internal diameter. Does that sound about right?

Yes you can get better quality steel and design them how ever you like. They are very simple to build, I will try to post a pick of the one s on my cj

Thanks Will, bookmarked it and will read it a few times, then let it stew in my head while I drive around all day with windshield time.
