How To: Getting my Wife into offroading
okay well my plans are to try and get my wife into off roading. she has never really been around it. so i figure if i can get her to come with on the feb trip i might be able to get her into it. i think her main thing she doesnt like about offroading is that it scares her. also if i can get her into it maybe after we get our taxes back i can either use some of the money for a winch and bumper or pick up a cheap lil 4x4 xj. anyone else got any ideas?

ONF is a good place to start her out at. Nothing real crazy, especially since your 2WD. Another plus with taking her is she will see the difference of 4WD over 2WD, and might help you out on getting a 4WD.

thats my thoughts exactly. and if not getting a 4wd maybe at least a locker for my rear end

Just weld the rear end.

There is only one thing she cares about...... her CHILD. She could give a f*** less about 2wd or 4wd. Maybe when her son is older she could get her mind on off-roading.
Re: How To: Getting my Wife into offroading
As for the welded rear end won't that make my rear diff wear more thus causing it to be weaker? Also wouldn't it cause more wear on tires

The best way to get her to approve is invole her, let her drive bring her to the club events

Approval is there. She don't care if I go. I think her main worry comes from not knowing what my vehicle is capable of so she's afraid of any stepp hil in fear of rolling over

It won't make the diff any weaker but will wear the inside of your tires. Just rotate them n you'll be alright.

bring her out show her what yours does...then put her in one of our 4x4's and she with see the difference. she will she what different vehicles can do...jeep vs nissan vs whatever. we also have members with built trucks and that will really show her what 4x4's can do.
Re: How To: Getting my Wife into offroading
Why would it wear just the inside of my tires?

don't scare her either you have to be understanding with her feelings about what scares her . turns is what will wear your tires , both will spin at the same time and one will bark alittle or you just give it alittle more gas and do some donuts , ask chris about that that

good safty seats and babys and kids are fine besides more likely to roll it at high speeds on the highway than trail ridingLock~N~Low wrote:There is only one thing she cares about...... her CHILD. Re: How To: Getting my Wife into offroading
I don't take my son usually when I gobecause he's not really old enough to enjoy it. Also y'all are really tempting me with gettin my gears welded. I would want someone that's done a damn good job before on welding the spider gears. It would save a lot of money on a locker that's for sure

you need to talk with the accomplished welders, I'd talk with Hellbilly or Dirty.
