what do you wanna see done to the off~camber xj
Off~Camber XJ build
Ok, lets get some ideas for the xj build. This will be a forum owned XJ. It will not have a single owner. When I get the title from Frankie I will put it in Off~camber 4x4's name. Now, anything done to it will be by vote by the members of this forum. Everything from what engine to the color of paint. Add what you like. Once the above poll is done I will record the standings and start a new poll for different items. lets get the running gear sorted first and go from there and any company that wants to help with parts/labor you will get advertisement space on the xj and on this forum. I will even display you company decal/logo/banner on my personal jeep.

I think that a diesel that runs on biofuel should be added. That way we would never have to pay for gas. Plus you could get a fastfood place to sponsor us with used grease.

Re: Off~Camber XJ build
ok on the diesel would that be the newer jeep diesel in the gc or something like a 4tb cummins
Re: Off~Camber XJ build
Since this is a group project, doesn't it make sense to make it as economical, efficient and as efficient as possible? We're going to end up getting a drivetrain from something that someone gets and can afford to part out. We're gonna and up with a domestic V8 more than likely. Or another jeep I6. What is the plan on this build up anyway?
Re: Off~Camber XJ build
it will be a hardcore rig we take to the bigger events. the ls motor will be the most eco friendly v8 by far. and the easiest to put in. all wiring is pretty much self contained. just gotta feed it some power and it will run. the easiest swap would be to keep it 4.0...just stroke it out. the tranny is already here. it just needs a complete eng compartment rewire, had an eng fire.
the diesel would be the most expensive to pull off. the 318/360 would be fairly easy. the Ford would be easy to...much smaller then a 350 and the dizzy is in the front so no clearence issues there.

Re: Off~Camber XJ build
i personally would like to keep it fuel injected. if we do a v8 swap the LS1 is the best bet...even though i hate GM products...but you gotta respect a v8 that gets 20-25 mpg and pumps out 300+ hp
Re: Off~Camber XJ build
here is some info on putting a ls1 in an xj
http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm
and the mounts are pretty cheap

Re: Off~Camber XJ build
these are not typical air shocks we are talking about. they take away the need for coils or leafs. and you can adjust the ride height. they are WAY sweet.
is his cummins 4tbs or 6 cylinders?

That looks like fun. But for who?
Re: Off~Camber XJ build
all of us. we go as a group and we all use it. any person that helps with it will have say in whats done with it. i would like to see it in top truck challenge...but that if it ever happens is FAR away. this will be a forum owned xj and whats done to it would be voted on. from what events it goes to to who drives it at that event.
Re: Off~Camber XJ build
this thing will not be cheap by no means. i could take years to build. i myself am going to work on it and get it ready for its transformation. i am going to try and find some sponsors for some of the parts. and no this is not going to be like a site some of us know about that the owner only wanted people to work on his cj....i have my own jeep. this xj will be a off~camber crawler period...not mine or any other single owner...but all of ours.all you gotta be is a member and help out with it.

if its a toy that everyone thats involved can have a chance to drive then im all for it.
im down for helping with any of the fabrication.
and if we have 6 or 7 people pitching it, plus a sponsor or two...then parts become alot cheaper.

yes all involved will drive it and enjoy it and own it. if neede i will do up an agreement stating so. but you do have to activly involved with it...wrench turning, parts ect....sponsor
Re: Off~Camber XJ build
I NOW IT SOUNDS GREAT BUT TO BE HONEST , ITS SO MUCH EASIER TO BUY ONE THAT SOMEONES RAN OUT OF MONEY AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPERTUNITY, BY THE WAY I NOW WHAT AIRSHOKS YOUR TALKING ABOUT BUT THE NITROS ARE BETTER THAN THE AIRS! SAME APPLICATION...BY THE WAYS DOES ANYONE HAVE A TUBE BENDER? I VOTE ON THE DESIEL more torque less weight

Re: Off~Camber XJ build
I would say if there is a motor in it now, which I'm hoping would be a good running 4.0 i would keep that, unless your filthy rich, I would plan the build off of where you can save the most money, and where you really need to spend it. With the money that you are looking into spending on an engine, which you then have to come up with motor mounts how to adapt it to your transmission if you keep the stock transmission, how to mate that to your transfer case. you could put that money where it matters like axles and steering for example. but that's just me
