MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Blew up the Hemi in the MudRaider as everyone knows. It's ok. Been planning on throwing a V-6 from the SR model Montero into it for a year or so, finally got a donor truck a few months ago. Was hoping to wait until January to start, but oh well. Gathering other parts right now, Ordered a stick of UMWH (SP?) plastic to make pucks to do a 3" Body lift. Recommended to give additional room on motor fitting. Need a bellhousing, dash cluster with the V-6 tachometer, and a fuel pump. Gasket set, timing belts, spark plugs and wires are about all I can think of. Oh, and a fuel pump. Should be pretty painless as long as I don't get in a hurry. have a lot of parts to rob off the donor vehicle, nice having a complete running donor to use. Done way too many where you have to hit the JY to get parts when you piecemeal something in.

Wanted to do something, I don't know why after 14 hour day. Took off windshield washer tank and headlight washer tank of the donor vehicle. I think I'll be taking the doors off too, been thinking of making some tube doors. This later model donor has the same type of latch set-up so I can use it.

I could get rid of 25 ugly pounds if I cut my head off. I slay myself!
Re: MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Main Street has a 90 Montero in holding. 99% chance that it will be an automatic. That is the bellhousing that I need. Whoohoo. get the friggin Shogun running and I can get to crackalackin on the MudRaider again.
Re: MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Time to get to bed. Start disassembly of the MudRaider tomorrow. A few oics, most are just going into Photobucket. Long list of things I have to do before it rolls on it's own again. Dammit!!!!

Yep, going to focus on one thing at a time. Otherwise have twelve things going, with little or no progress on any of them. One part at a time.
Re: MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Didn't get crap done today. Cleaned up the garage, got rid of some old tires, cleaned all my tools, organized my dismantled engine stuff between Japanese and Domestic, and cleaned up my latest fabrication mess. Got all the boxes, labels, markers, etc for the disassembly of two vehicles, Been writing notes in a notebook, and bought some new batteries for taking pics. Also made dinner, did the dishes and helped the girl with her studies. Don't feel like I got anything done today.

Re: MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Spent a few minutes on it today. Took the carb and all it's emisions crap off today, labeling everything. Some guy on the web needs a good working carb and this one works great. Have to box it up and ship it to him. Also took out the headlight washer bottle, radiator, fan, and fuel canister system. Skid plates are off, half of Flagler is in my driveway, having been stored on the skid plates. Will move it back in the driveway tomorrow and clean all the dirt out from under it, then move it back up and can then crawl under it so I can get it out. It will be out before Sunday night!
Re: MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Got all the bolts out, all the rest of the bolt on stuff off, and will be pulling the engine tomorrow. Short day today, the lady is sick and had do take care of her. Not looking forward to taking the wiring apart and figuring out what to keep and what to save, it will all be worth it in the long run though. No pics, nothing exciting about today's work, just getting dirty and fighting rusty old bolts.
Re: MudRaider getting a new powerplant
Finally got some time off. Working on two vehicles. Got the motor out finally, been 10 days since any time to do anything. Still trying to find a bellhousing.

No. Working too much!! Way over-rated. They finally hired someone, so the workload will drop, hopefully, signifigantly. Try and get the motor of of the donor Saturday, bolt the entire mount assembly to it and get the new mounts tacked in. A lot for one weekend.
