The '97 is a nice Truck....but the V8 is made for harder offroading. it has a dana 44 instead of the 8.25. that should be reason enough. but not to mention the h.p. difference.....c'mon....no brainer here Rolling Eyes we can up grade the 93 for off roading and keep the 4.0 street worthy...better gas mileage from the motor and tire size. just "my" opinion.

yeah after racking my brain for about 10 seconds the most reasonable choice is the 93...it has the v8..it has ac and its nice.the transfer case is going to be a problem...my input shaft is 1.55 and the longest 242 or 231 they make is .850.the 96-98 gc with a v8 will have a tranny i could use and get the t-case from something with the same input shaft.or have the 249 and 242 combined to make what i need.

as far as axles...if it is a d44 then its an aluminum case and its a fair axle...all parts for it are pricey.i could have a 35...i hope it has a 8.25...i need to go check...
