im in need of help from yu ford guys
so im up here in south carolina with some family friends and they just got a 88 f150 with a 351 and auto tranny all stock
when you start the truck you have to give it gas or it just dies when its cold and after it has warmed up and im driving in town it wants to die at red lights anything would help at this point im trying to get this truck running good and reliable for them

sounds like the IAC is bad.

i know the guy they got it from did a tune up and replaced somethings on it and the iac looks to be new is there any way to test it to see if its bad

but the easiest way to test is just start the engine and unplug the IAC at idle. if the rpm drops and the engine almost stalls, the IAC works. if no change, IAC does not work.

ive checked the iac like you said and it the truck died when i unplugged it my next guess is i have a vacuum leak somewhere

a pretty major leak. start by replacing all of those stock plastic vac lines with some good rubber ones. if it just starting running bad out of the blue, that would be a good place to start.
