ATTN ALL project "BUILT not Bought" 89 xj
I have finally gotten arround to work on the xj i got from 4x4troy it already had a 6" lift,SYE,tranny transfercase drop, posi lok cable and swaybar quick disco's. I made the doors removable and i am working on building front and rear bumpers an rock slider steps. Its a work in progress but with my tax return I picked up some super cool tools to help me out with the build. I got a 12 ton pipe bender, 30" metal break and a lincoln mig welder so if you need any help with anything let me know. heres some before pix

Looking good! What program is that to do that to a picture?
Re: ATTN ALL project "BUILT not Bought" 89 xj
oh just admit it, its nice to see someone else doing a Cherokee. Seems like all the Cherokee guys have them at that point where they are set. You and Frankie have been riding yours like they have been for a while. A testament to the direction you guys took to build your rides. Harley has been absent lately. Nick is still making some serious mods on his. You guys with the unibody trucks have the toughest job getting yours maxed out.Lock~N~Low wrote:I like it...... awesome rig.

Well i went out of town last weekend got back last night so i did some more work on the bumper no pix yet though i bent my stick of tubing for the stinger and got all my templates made... Doesnt sound like alot but templates can be a pain. Tomorrow im hoping to have it finnished and preped for paint (bed liner) if not have have it painted too. Then ill start on slider steps and possibly some exo cage? Idk yet

Re: ATTN ALL project "BUILT not Bought" 89 xj
well ive got some more pix not completely up to date the rain was not my friend today but i still got some good work done. these pix are an idea of what it is ive done more braceing then what you see in the one pic and i got a good deal on a winch, plate and fairlead so i now also have a winch mounted on there and the next semi dry day i have the stinger will be mounted.

Re: ATTN ALL project "BUILT not Bought" 89 xj
Yea i started doing research after i had it mostly built and realized it is definatly overbuilt but thats not a bad thing. i hooked the winch up so i obviously had to get myself stuck so i could test the winch out so i did and every thing worked great.

Re: ATTN ALL project "BUILT not Bought" 89 xj
Overbuilt....unless it was so heavy that it weighed the front end down, that would be hard to do. The first time you go nose first into a rock and it keep everything intact, you'll see it will be worth it. Get to work on some sliders.
Re: ATTN ALL project "BUILT not Bought" 89 xj
WAYYYY ahead of you. once the front bumper is done im going to start on rock sliders/steps and the rear bumper both fairly simple projects and designs. just using 2" iron pipe for the sliders and 2x6 1/8-1/4 rectangle for the rear bumper.

and the plus side is if you mount a pulley to the stinger you could use it as an engine puller or a light duty crane.
