1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
so i decided to build another XJ to do some wheeling.
picked this up as a trade for some labor to install a lift kit on another jeep.
1992, 4.0, AX-15, NP231, D30, D35
first up was the intake swap from a 99+ 4.0.
then i pieced together a cheapo lift consisting of a bastard pack, JK Rubicon shocks, Rustys 4.5 coils, JK lower control arms and some homebrew UCA's
Added Rustys steering and track bar
then made my doors removable
then threw some 31" BF M/T's on it on some 16" JK steelies
took it to a few events and had a blast
then it was time to fix some rust
and then add some bedliner
I loved the way the Jeep rode and flexed, so i kept it that way for a while

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
then came part 2 of the build.
started with a paint job and some 32x12x16 nitto's, along with some 12" shocks for the front
and then i decided i didnt like leaf springs any more...so i fixed that
out with the old d35 and bastard pack, and in with the new stuff....which included
-locked 8.8 with truss
-4:10's
-double traingulated 4 link
-shock hoop with 13" shocks
-cherry bomb muffler (only thing that would fit)
-SYE
lol

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
then i got a deal on some brand new 35/12.5/15 MT's and some 15x10 aluminum wheels
i then did some more trimming, made some limiting straps and took it wheeling in ocala

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
that is one sweet jeep. very nice build. if you trianglate the control arms do you have to run track bars?
Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
nope, it eliminates the need for a track bar

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
Watching you go thru Christman's obstacle was one of the best parts of being there that day. You were nervous as hell. That thing did great.

You going over that is what inspired me to get my sliders done. I think I could of went over it if i would of had sliders. I would of tore up the rockers otherwise.

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
so i got a couple things done.
-made a shifter plate and new boot to keep the heavy flow of exhaust fumes out of the cab and to clean up the shifter.
- and installed the stock LJ steering (thanks for the hookup Jaxwranglerunlimited!)...death wobble is now GONE!
unfortunetly i dont think ill get much else done before Jeeptoberfest, were pretty booked up in the shop and ill be pretty busy before and after work.

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
the bumper i built friday night,... made from 1/4" and a couple of 3/8" pieces.
its not completely done yet. i still want to add a reciever hitch in the middle, and add some steel to the side and the bottom, along with doing some more cutting to clean it up some. but, i just needed to get the d-ring mounts done so i could have a recovery point for jeeptoberfest

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
this will give you an idea of how i want to finish it (forgot to draw in the reciever hitch)
the red pieces get cut off, and the blue is added on both sides. and also an angled piece at the bottom which you cant see in this picture

Re: 1992 XJ "Project Florida Crawler"
That will look good. The wraparound pieces on thhe corner will set it apart from the rest who just throw some steel on the front.
